This is a beautiful little boutique hotel with lots of charm and unique architectural character.
The breakfast was great, and the overall value was good.
Unfortunately, there's a tram or other vehicle that rolls directly by the building starting early in the morning. It happens infrequently, and the noise and vibration are relatively short, but the driver blows a horn, and if you're a light sleeper, you'll hear it loud and clear.
Kein Parkplatz. Lage nicht in Escalante. Aber ziemlich zentral.
Great location, close to museums. Parking was extra $14 a day at nearby parking lot. Simple breakfast buffet was included. No elevator so we had to carry our luggage upstairs.
Good service, friendly and helpful.
The room wasn’t big, but there was a big common area for guests on the floor outside each room. It could also be a disaster because someone talked loud on the phone.
It also had a nice front garden with tables and chairs.
A great hotel close to the city core.
The rooms and common areas were clean and well maintained. The staff were pleasant and check-in was quick and easy. Definately the best hotel we have booked for the price in San Jose
The hotel converted from a mansion is comparable to the mayor's mansion in Chattanooga. It's in a neighborhood with nice restaurants, museums & ample shopping. All are quite walkable. The cons are: there are only 2 rooms with A/C, you can hear the trains.
You’re going to want to read this before booking this place. I stayed here with another person my last night in Costa Rica and I personally think it’s terrible for even one night. The area is so sketchy and makes you feel unsafe once the sun goes down. You can’t park in front of the hotel so you have to go around the corner and down the block for a parking lot that is parked bumper to bumper. Yes, it’s a Victorian style hotel but they could absolutely use some remodeling. The inside is creepy. The pictures make this place look stunning but you are going to be fooled. There are no AC units in the rooms. We had a fan that barely worked. Our room was so stuffy and uncomfortable that I couldn’t sleep. The beds are rock hard and the linens are gross! They have stains and look yellow, they clearly need to be replaced. There are no microwaves in the room or a mini fridge. The restaurant is only open for breakfast. The bar closed by 6pm so you can’t get any drinks, nor do they have ice to give you. We felt unsafe in this neighborhood so we didn’t even want to walk anywhere for food or drinks and were hoping we could get all of that during our stay. The bathroom is the only thing decent. The only good thing about this place was the kind staff. Put your money somewhere else. It’s not worth it in my opinion.
Fleur de Lys has become my home away from home. Centrally located in San Jose, you can walk to many attractions and great restaurants. The staff is wonderful. It is a small, quaint hotel. They have a lovely breakfast. They recently updated the rooms. I love small family owned hotels. This is definitely my favorite in San Jose.
Nice hotel but lots of the standard rooms have no window. Fortunately the service is very friendly and I could switch rooms. Despite of that very lovely building. Unfortunately the breakfast room is inside.
Loved this place. It has a French Colonial atmosphere. Wonderful front desk staff, especially Kailyn and their trusted taxi driver, Julio. Comfortable beds and clean. I felt right at home. Thank you!
Absolute terrible stay first off the beds were very uncomfortable. no ac in the rooms and constant odor of sewage. Every floorboard creaked. Rooms were dirty and seriously needed an update. The walls were stained as well as the carpet ripped up In several places. The entire hotel is dimly lit by motion lights that half do not work NOT RECOMMENDED
