Museum in San José with more than 70,000 species on display: mainly birds, reptiles, fish and mammals.
Founded in 1960, Brother Eduardo Fernandez, a professor of natural sciences, wanted to raise public awareness of the importance of biodiversity. More than 70,000 species on display, mainly birds, but also reptiles, fish and mammals, are listed in this somewhat old-fashioned museum, many of which you will never see in the wild: they have long since disappeared. Also a section dedicated to paleontology and geology.

A museum is quite far from the centre, opposite the Sabana park, not far from the ministry of Agriculture. The museum is a little dusty, but the price is particularly temperate, and the collections, including butterflies, are very large and rather impressive.
