Original place that houses the national auditorium and exhibition rooms in cells in San Jose

This prison, or rather the old penitentiary of San José was transformed in 1994 into a museum for children (see the before/after pictures). History, science, society... The place is original and very well rehabilitated. It also houses the national auditorium and exhibition rooms in the cells. In addition to the visit, children should not miss the workshops where they will learn how to build a pre-Columbian house or how to make bribrí jewelry, but the explanations are obviously given in Spanish...

A little disappointed museum. The activities are only in Spanish, difficult to follow for children. Some portage does not function longer (planets, star human body)! On the other hand, the rooms on the ways of life in Costa Rica are very well.
