Pacuare Natural Refuge for leatherback turtle nesting, housing a center dedicated to the protection of biodiversity.
The Pacuare Natural Refuge protects 800 hectares of beaches where leatherback turtles lay eggs and nest between March and June and green turtles between June and August. These beaches are among the most strategic and important in the world to ensure the protection and survival of these different species. The center offers the possibility of participating in a volunteer program for a minimum of 14 days, an emotional and unforgettable experience that is particularly aimed at people interested in the protection of biodiversity. From observing reptiles to recording their behavior, from night patrols to identifying nesting turtles to collecting data for scientific study, you will be up close to these majestic creatures. The actions of the center are not limited to that, since a whole part is also dedicated to the sensitization of the population, and the education of the children of the local community. This is another issue, of paramount importance to change mentalities, and that the next generations are guarantors of the protection of the living in all its forms. Volunteers visiting the center will be able to take part in many diverse and concrete actions for the protection of the turtles. This is an opportunity to practice your Spanish in an idyllic setting, and to live an experience with a positive impact that you won't soon forget.
