SAINT-NICTAIRE CHURCH
This building, built in the 12th century, is one of the 5 major Romanesque churches in the region
Built in the 12th century in honor of Saint Nectaire, evangelizer of the 3rd century, it is one of the most beautiful Romanesque churches in Auvergne. The bell tower, the tower and the west facade were restored at the end of the 19th century. Inside, the barrel-vaulted nave with bays is flanked by side aisles with groin vaults and tribunes. The transept crossing is crowned by a cupola on trunks. It houses 103 capitals, including those of the choir, which form a remarkable group of Romanesque sculptures. The treasure houses a bust of Saint Baudime.
