CABINAS EL QUETZAL
Isolated and bucolic cabins, the logical continuation of the farmhouse built in 1957 by Don Efraim Chacon in San Gerardo de Dota.
These highly recommendable, isolated and bucolic cabinas are the logical continuation of the farm built in 1957 by donation Efraím Chacón, a national figure that has adapted apple apple cultivation and other fruit trees that were missing in Costa Rica. Trails are regularly maintained in the adjacent forest and to have the best chances of finally seeing a quetzal, do not hesitate to ask for advice to one of the Chacón. Generally, they know everything about "their" birds. Walking on foot or on horseback.

I only have two complaints: 1) the wi-fi is appallingly slow. I ended up having to go to another hotel nearby to work. There's no reason for having 1 megabit internet in this day and age. 2) The rooms only have a single, ungrounded electrical plug. So you can either have a lamp or charge a phone. Again, seems baffling in 2023 to have that kind of electrical installation. Both issues are easy to fix and would bump it up to five stars.
