AUBERGE DURIKA ET RÉSERVE BIOLOGIQUE DURIKA
The Durika Foundation acts for the conservation of the biological reserve Durika (RBD) adjacent to the national park La Amistad and creates an ecological corridor enabling wildlife to move freely in the region. It lies at the top of the mountains of the Cordillera of Talamanque and covers 8 500 hectares of tropical forest. Thanks to its position, the reserve protects a large number of threatened species such as the Jaguar, Tapir, or the famous quetzal. It is intended to be an example of sustainability and self-sufficiency, most foods are produced in the community and cover its needs: organic agricultural production (without chemical fertilizers), production of dairy products and bread. Funding is provided through the sale of art objects and ecotourism. To do: discovery of the community, 3-day excursion to Cerro Dúrika or 7 days through the Cordillera of Talamanca, visit of goats and other local activities, the cultivation of orchidées orchids, the centre of naturopathic.
