DEPOSITO LIBRE
Golfito's main source of revenue resides at the Depósito Libre (created in 1988) in the north of the city. It is a free trade area where everything is zero-rated. When United Fruit left the city, Golfito was in economic depression, hence the creation of the Depósito Free. One day before your purchase, you must go to the reception office (TAC) for a free authorization ticket that will allow you to shop in one of the 40 stores in the free zone. Clothing, cosmetics, alcohol, appliances, high tech, car accessories, toys… items are not subject to taxes and this is the main attraction of the city. Cars are often filled more than just reason and sometimes we need to use the postal service to send the rest of the day's folies!
