Opened in 2012, the airport has a new, larger terminal to accommodate the growing number of visitors transiting through Liberia. For internal flights, the company Sansa serves Liberia. From San José, it costs US$ 200 round trip. North American and European airlines also have direct flights to Liberia. Since 2019, KLM has opened a new route from Amsterdam to Liberia (Guanacaste region). 7 flights per week are scheduled.
