"10 out of 5 stars" said my son. None of my family of 5 (kids ages 11, 10, and 7) wanted to leave after our 3 night stay. The staff was AMAZING...so friendly and helpful. They would point out the toucans and sloths. We didn't even have to go on any sloth tours because we saw them right at the hotel! The room were perfect for our family: very clean, comfortable, great shower, good ac, good wifi. The kids had a blast at the pool and we made friends we will keep in touch with after our vacation. The resort also had a nice nature trail in the back that we walked daily to see many beautiful plants, birds, and butterflies. My kids loved watching the leaf cutter ants on the trail. I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel for families.
Hotel mal entretenu.
My family stayed here in December. We stayed here on our way to Mistico Bridges. There was a great view of Arenal from the property. The kids enjoyed the pool even though we had run out of daylight. It was a different experience because they had few lights in the pool area and it was on the cool side.
The restaurant served breakfast; I liked that they had a few options but you weren't overloaded with choices. The food was good, and I enjoyed the covered patio. It didn't affect us, but the restaurant wasn't open for dinner time.
There were so many different birds there: pavas, hummingbirds, summer tanagers, and many I wasn't able to identify. There were also a couple of sloths, toucans, and some cool bees and moths! It looks like they take care to create habitat for the animals.
A downside to the area was the abundance of mosquitoes, which were so quiet you didn't notice them until you're covered in bites. I learned last week that Canadian Blood Services has declared this area of the country to have a malaria risk, so I am unable to donate blood until 3 months after my return date.
Finally, I was unhappy with the bed. Mine was very hard and the room smelled like it had been fumigated that very day. Perhaps it is because I have a stronger sense of smell than my family, but I was the only one to find it a problem. I appreciate that there was a queen, twin, and bunk bed option in the room. There were 4 of us and it gave the kids options.
There are many hotels in this price range in the Fortuna area. This one is well run by experienced hotel professionals, who own it and do all the work. The grounds are extraordinary. Well kept and maintained. There are more birds and sloths here than on May tours. I highly recommend this hotel.
perfect location. perfect service. Super friendly!!! the hotel is quietly located in the forest with a pool! The rooms are clean and nicely decorated. The only drawback is that WiFi and cellphone reception is zero
