BEAL COLLAR
The Col du Béal, one of the roofs of the Auvergne region, offers magnificent views of the surrounding mountains.
At an altitude of 1,387 metres, between the two sides of the Monts du Forez, this pass offers breathtaking views over the Auvergne and Lyonnais regions. Situated on the Hautes Chaumes plateau, a Natura 2000 site, it is surrounded by moors, peat bogs and typical jasseries. In winter, it marks the start of a cross-country ski trail, and in summer, cyclists take up the challenge of its ascent. An inn, a B&B and an interpretation center (in summer) complete the picture. A road leads to the Pierre-sur-Haute signal, the highest point in Forez, offering breathtaking panoramic views.
