MOUND AND MARSHLAND OF SAINT-PIERRE-LE-CHASTEL
Hillock to climb with explanatory panels and a marsh similar to a water mirror in winter classified as a Sensitive Natural Area.
In Saint-Pierre-le-Chastel go up to the top of the village, on top of the hill, next to the church. A path goes around it, and ends at the end in a pretty meadow with explanatory signs. From up there, you can enjoy a magnificent panorama of the volcanoes and the Sancy. Below, observe the meanders of the still young Sioule which runs northwards. On the other side, admire a marsh, dried up in summer, similar to a water mirror in winter, classified as a Sensitive Natural Area.

Le sentier qui descend de l'église est très raide et fini sur des marches en très mauvais états.
Une fois sur le sentier, celui-ci est très mal indiqué. On devrait être prévenu que l'on traverse 2 fois la voie ferrée. Le train est passé 2 mn après avoir traversé la voie.
C'est décevant de se promener sur un chemin que l'on peut faire en voiture.
On a fait le tour complet sans voir quoi que ce soit.
Le tracé de la carte remise à l'Office du tourisme n'est pas exact et mal expliqué.
Je ne recommanderais pas cette promenade.
