We stayed at the Best Western in Tamarindo for 7 nights. The hotel service was amazing. The front desk was on the money 24 hours a day and the pool bar was undefeated. I would like to give a special shoutout to Ana in the kitchen for putting on an excellent breakfast served by the pool every day. Highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Tamarindo.
My rooms were cleaned every day with new towels daily. The view from the deck is incredible and the breakfast is even better.
I'd like to give a special thanks to Josue from the kitchen who gave me an incredible meal later than he was supposed to after monkey night.
Keyling was super helpful, it was my first time in Costa Rica and she helped direct me around and find wonderful local spots. Defiantly wouldn’t have had the same experience with out her
7000 colones per person is quite expensive for a camping spot. We ended up finding a quiet place elsewhere for gratis. You can still enjoy the beach for free. Everything in Tamarindo has a « tourist tax » but you can always hustle !
El único hostal frente a la playa, estuve durmiendo en una habitación compartida y fue toda para mi, tenía aire acondicionado, cortinilla en la cama y estaba super limpia!
We were searching for a campsite near Tamarindo to experience the vibe during the day and night. I guess it depends on multiple factors, for us it just wasn’t it.
We had contact before arrival, but still the arrival was a bit weird. Eventually we sat up camp and although we were the only ones there wasnt a really good spot for a nice breeze and shadow. We settled on the beachside of the camping.
I guess it is nice they have a kitchen with a lot of utensils, but this was not necessary for us since we have a fully equiped 4x4 and besides that wanted to go out. We did however leave our 6L waterbottle in the freezer to cooldown. Nice that there is a written rule about not taking each other stuff from the kitchen but when we took our water the next day we noticed that roughly 3L was taken from our bottle…
The shower is okay, for sure not the cleanest. its crazy to me that one of the shower curtains is very see through, especially when you turn the light on in the shower.
The paper containers were filled to the top in the toilet. Thats just digusting to me, especially with the flies flying out.
Our downfall was that in the evening a campfire was lit close to our tent, and wlthough the fire was out, it kept giving smoke for the rest of the night, going directly into our tent. Due to the heat and no breeze this just turned into the worst night we’ve had so far. The music was indeed present, but that was the one thing that we werent bothered by so much.
Overall, I think 7000 colonnes per person per night is just a bad price/quality. Tamarindo is a very nice place to go to, hopefully they will improve their price/quality because the reviews just do not match what we have experienced!
Really nice spot with a reasonable rate. The people are great and it's close to pretty much everything. As with everything in Costa Rica, bring earplugs and a fan. They have a kitchen, they have potable water, washrooms and showers. Please keep in mind, you're camping, so this won't be resort quality amenities lol. Surf board rentals are nearby, food within walking distance and you're an earshot from the beach. Really enjoyed our stay here.
Parque frente a playa, ojo con dejar abierto el auto
Acá NO hay "cuida carros" que encima se creen dueños del lugar y si no "deseas sus servicios" te lo tachan , eso en otra playa claro
It's probably not the best camping ever, but it has everything you might need: electricity, wifi, wc & shower, drinkable water, fairly equipped kitchen (gas stove & fridge included), some basic food is always offered (sugar, rice, oil, coffee), lockers, roof for tents, surf equipment... Owner is very friendly and genuinely interested in guests' wellbeing.
I paid 5000crc (10$) per night in my hammock. I think it's 7000crc per person in tent. The place is right on the beach and on walking distance from every interesting spot in Tamarindo.
Got ripped of at this place like we have never before. Owner acts friendly but in the meantime is just dishonest and greedy.
Booked through Airbnb, where it showed 38 dollars per night for camping but for renting a tent. Messaged the owner beforehand, asking him what the price is when you have your own tent (as we are fully equipped). He replied that it doesn’t matter: ‘you pay for the camp spot’.
We arrive a week later, turns out that there are no clear separate campspots, but also we talk to multiple fellow campers with own tents who paid just 12 dollars per night.
When we confront the owner and ask him to at least wave our fees when we cancel, he replies that his contactperson who does his Airbnb is out of town. When we insist him to get in touch with that person, he replies that he will “try”, after which never to return on the subject.
Got here in pooring rain. Place has 2 coveren spots and is right on the beach. People are friendly, not super clean with all the rain but they are trying. Would recommend this place highly. Restaurants and bars and shops at walking distance.
