Always awesome, we love this place, the food the staff and the wild life it’s a home away from home.

Thank you Lolo for your peaceful slice of heaven. We had a wonderful 5 night stay at Mikado Lodge. It is a little out of the way but worth getting there. It still puts you within easy reach of nearby Avellanas, Negra and Blanca beaches and more (short drive to Tamarindo, Conchal, slightly further to Nosara). It's so nice being out in the hills with very little artificial light and next to no noise except the wildlife.

Despite daytime temps of 40 degrees, the room was manageable with the windows wide open. The air conditioning could quickly cool the room in the evening and when the temps drop to the mid 20's it was perfect with the windows wide and the insect screens shut. We were woken in the morning by the haunting call of local howler monkeys but the sound-proof doors could easily block this out of you want. At the time of visiting (Feb 2024) there was a small family of 7 or so monkeys that would traverse nearby trees. One morning we were treated to the full cohort cruising past very close to our terrace.

Lolo is an incredible and generous host. She went out of her way for us on several occasions and we are truly grateful. She serves a mean breakfast and, if you request a day or two in advance, a delicious dinner too.

There are also tons of options for eating out within a 25 minute drive (recommend having a car).

Lolo, qui gère le domaine en mains de maître est une femme Formidable et toujours aux petits soins pour ses clients ! En plus de donner de très bons conseils sur les environs, lieux de visites et de restauration, c'est une personne très agréable et très attachante. Les jours passés à Mikado Natural Lodge ont été exceptionnels et nous y sommes répartis presque la larme à l’œil ????❤️. De gros bisous à toi Lolo et belle pensée pour toute ta petite famille ❤️????

Superbe vue pour ce Lodge à la déco soignée et en harmonie avec la nature.
Les singes et les écureuils sont souvent au rendez-vous dans les arbres au petit dej.
Le pain du matin est croustillant à souhait. Et les piña colada maison un must, sirotées au bord de la piscine à l’heure du sunset.

Truly an unforgettable, AMAZING experience staying at the Mikado Lodge! Entire property is just absolutely gorgeous! We saw monkeys from our room and by the pool. Lolo, the host, is just the sweetest and most accommodating. She cooked us a delicious breakfast every morning overlooking the pool, suggested TONS of activities (local beaches, a beautiful hike near the lodge, and even called and set us up on a Mangrove boat tour), and was just eager to make us feel happy and comfortable. The rooms have stunning views, are spotless and safe and look straight out of a magazine. Cannot say enough good things about this place, it made our entire experience (my first time traveling to Costa Rica). Thank you Lolo, we had the best time at your lodge. If you are looking for the BEST place to stay, it is here!!

Just returned from trip to Costa Rica and spent 4 nights at Mikado. Beautiful accommodation in bungalows on the edge of a hilltop about 30 min from Tamarindo. Bedroom area was “indoors” with panoramic views and the bathroom area “outdoors” - completely open air. Rooms and bedding were excellent. Great balcony with a breeze even in the heat. Excellent pool large enough to really swim in. Had a wonderful time also with Lolo the owner who is a chef and her family. She goes out of her way to make the stay enjoyable and gave us excellent advice for restaurants etc. Delicious breakfasts with her homemade fresh bread, homemade yoghurt, fresh local fruit, homemade jams from her friend and crepes every day. She also cooked an amazing 3 course dinner for us one night. This place is really a “hidden gem” and excellent value for everything provided compared with similar accommodations in the area.

A flawless experience. I would give the service six stars if I could. All the smallest touches are just right, and the manager went far above and beyond expectation. The food is wonderful, the setting is serene. You feel truly pampered, but it’s affordable. There’s a very remote and private feeling but you’re still so close to beaches and towns, if you want those too. Stop thinking about it and just book with Mikado!

Atendimento otimo

Mikado Natural Lodge was everything we wanted for my wife and I`s latest Costa Rican trip. Everything is top notch, Lolo is a very attentive and great host who makes sure everything is right! Will certainly return in the future when we are in Guanacaste!

Desde el mismo instante de hacer la reservación podíamos intuir qué mikado sería un lugar especial.
Lolo una anfitriona excepcional, atenta, profesional nos hizo nuestra estancia en su pedazo de paraíso “inolvidable”. Si buscas algo normal … no te acerques. Si eres de las personas que valoran la excelencia, este es tu sitio. Es importante acceder con un coche adecuado y asegurarse antes de la ruta correcta, así todo será perfecto. (Lo habitual en Costa Rica )

Volveríamos a Costa Rica para regresar a Mikado Natural Lodge, sin dudarlo

We loved our stay at Mikado Lodge! It is an incredible property in the middle of the jungle. The room and deck were lovely as you feel like you are in the tree canopy with the sounds of howler monkeys, cicadas, and views of deer and so many species of birds. Bring your binoculars! We enjoyed the pool time, the little trail on site, and the troup of monkeys that came swinging through the trees through in the morning. Aside from the beauty of the nature, everything is just so polished and well-taken care of. It is clear that a lot of thought and time has gone into the design and care of this boutique hotel. The owner, Lolo, was a gracious and accommodating host. She whipped up some delicious meals and was so sweet with our one year old. Playa Avellana is close by so you can go from jungle to beach in about 15 minutes! We would definitely stay there again.

Tolle Unterkunft mit einer sehr sympathischen Wirtin. Sehr bequeme Betten. Die Häuser sind gemütlich. Die Gegend ist sehr ruhig. Zum Strand fährt man mit dem Auto 10-20 Minuten über einen Feldweg.

We had a wonderful stay at Mikado Lodge. The pool is fantastic. It is only a 15min drive to Playa Avellana. It is recommended to have a 4x4 as the road to get to the hotel is bumpy. Lolo is a great host! We highly recommend.

Les Échos étaient extrêmement positifs mais la réalité les a largement dépassés. L’endroit est merveilleux et le service impeccable . En plus de tout cela, nous avons rencontré une personne exceptionnelle, une personnalité touchante et attachante, toujours prête à rendre service et à rendre notre séjour inoubliable, une amie qui nous donne envie de rester en contact et de revenir au CR.

Séjour formidable ! Quel accueil et quel service ! Rien à redire. Tout est parfait. Juste c’est indispensable d’avoir un véhicule surélevé car la route d’accès est de type trail comme un peu partout ds le Guanacaste dès que l’on sort des nationales. Je recommande sans modération.
