BLAGOVESTENSKA CHURCH (BLAGOVESTENSKA TEMPLOM)
Serbian Orthodox church in Szentendre, decorated with works by Mikhail Živković evoking Serbian history, worth a visit.
The Serbs, fleeing the Ottoman invasion of their country, erected the very first wooden church on this site in 1690 and soon placed their iconostasis there. The present Annunciation Church, consecrated in 1754, is attributed to András Mayerhoffer. Inside this Serbian Orthodox building, the Slavic chants that cradle the icons painted by Mikhail Živković (Serbian painter) evoke the richness and tragedy of Serbian history.
