Esztergom's former place of worship has been transformed into a place for exhibiting and learning about the city's history under the Turkish government.
Dzsàmi means mosque in Hungarian. In Esztergom, this former place of worship has become a place of exhibition and discovery of the history of the city under Turkish rule. This complex of buildings was part of the old city wall that joined the fortress: this is where the Turks entered Esztergom, through the Little Gate(Kicsi kapu), which they occupied in 1543, and built a mosque there. Descending from the building, we find the Rose Garden, and ascending the Cat's Staircase(Macskalépcsö), the path leads us to the basilica.
