CISTERCIAN FARMHOUSE AKLI MAJOR
A first Benedictine annex was built in the th century but the current buildings are Cistercian, dating back to the late th century. This unique "monastic" farmhouse was then devoted to breeding and the conservation and processing of food as well as to craft activities. The foundation which manages the historic monument today tries to restore its original character, favouring the direct relationship with producers: a market for small producers and craftsmen and a shop is there, and tourists of passage are welcome (with many possibilities for excursions and activities - like horse riding - in this lovely corner of Hungary). Jacek Vajda, mistress of the places, speaks French perfectly. Complains and others who want to act at the social level have been organizing international workshops for 10 years, in July young people from around the world come to build together.
