The old synagogue, founded around 1370, was converted into a museum and one of the largest Jewish monuments in Europe. It is divided into two pieces, one for men and one for women, with Gothic warheads, niches for benches, epigraphs engraved in stone and a mikvah (ritual bath). According to the laws in force in the Middle Ages, the synagogues had to have an opt-out in comparison to other street houses.

A Jewish community (some families) is visible in Sopron and 9th century but they build their synagogue only 14th c, set back from the street including most of the time. Expelled hungarian in 1526, no Jew is a Sopron between this date and 19th c. the synagogue, simple dwelling house meanwhile, was found in the years 1960 and rehabilitate. The visit is rather interesting and allows, in addition to the synagogue, to the room where women followed the worship and a ritual bath in a small courtyard.
