PALATINUS HOTEL
Located in the heart of the old town, a true gem of art nouveau renewed past time. The Palatinus was built in 1915 by a family of merchants, instead of a residential house on Király street. After the First World War, the hotel was resumed by a bank until its nationalization under the communists. Ramshackle, the Palatinus was closed in 1976, to reopen until 1988, after renovation work. Modernized, however, he kept his old style. Today, on the left of the magnificent lobby, you can find the splendid restaurant with a golden mosaic representing a peacock above a fountain. On the first floor, the ballroom where Béla Bartók once gave a concert (and bears his name) can accommodate up to 250 people. The rooms are rather cossues although small and the hotel has a sauna in the basement.
