HISTORICAL MUSEUM (GÖDÖLLŐI VÁROSI MÚZEUM)
Historical museum dedicated to Gödöllő's artists' colony, housed in one of the city's oldest buildings.
This museum housed in one of the oldest buildings in the city is dedicated to the Gödöllő Artists' Colony. Founded in 1901, the colony was inspired by the English Pre-Raphaelites and the art movement of William Morris and John Ruskin. Despite its breakup in 1920, its imprint on the decorative arts lasted until the 1950s, with the work of Károly Kós greatly influencing Imre Makovecz and his protégés, who dominated the Hungarian architectural scene thereafter.
