CASTLE OF THE QUEENS (DIOSGYŐRI VÁR)
Built for King Louis the Grand of Anjou between 1350 and 1375, this castle was the first in Hungary to draw inspiration from the style of southern Italy's fortresses. Although eminently defensible, he served mainly as a royal resort and residence with douairières queens. It was severely damaged during the war of independence carried out by Ferenc Rákóczi against the Habsburg, and then left behind for a long time in the central part of the 1950 s and again in 2013. Today, he serves as a framework for most concerts, festivals, theatre play, and other Festive cultural and festive events.
