A masterpiece of the Sécession (new Hungarian Art), this amazing building was built in 1902 by the architect Géza Márkus, student of Ödön Lechner. It is decorated with majolica tiles with the motifs of stylized flowers from the Zsolnay manufacture of Pécs. Other architectural elements are of transylvaine or Islamic inspiration. Cifra palota now houses several temporary exhibitions as permanent.
