In Baroque style it was rebuilt after the floods of 1879. A footbridge, usually named bridge of sighs, was built in 1883 by Emperor François-Joseph who wanted to join his apartments. During the summer festival and city hall evenings, numerous concerts and plays are organised in the courtyard.
