SZÉCHENYI PLACE (SZÉCHENYI TÉR)
One of the largest in Central Europe. There is the statue of István Széchenyi and the statue of the engineer Pál Vásárhelyi who led the river regulation. A commemorative plaque indicates the level of water during the floods of 1970. On the other side of the square, opposite the city hall, two bronze statues represent the Tisza River as a devastating force and as a source of blessing. Among the beautiful facades of this square is the Maison house, a classic hotel in classical style and the Tisza hotel, a place of artistic and literary life at Szeged.
