THERMAL BATHS OF THE CASTLE (VARFÜRDŐ)
The Ottomans were bathing fans and introduced this culture to Gyula. At the time of the war of Independence, a doctor named Wladár, who came from the South, created the baths for the cure of rheumatism. At the end of the th century, the city already had several thermal facilities. The work of the castle's baths was delayed by the Second World War, and was resumed only in 1955, thanks to a general subscription. The spa baths were finally inaugurated on 1 May 1959. The old castle and its Parc park with the century-old trees provide an ideal backdrop to the numerous pools and baths covered.
