Debrecen is Hungary's second most populous city and the cultural, scientific and commercial center of eastern Hungary. The "Great Church" (Nagytemplom), the largest Calvinist church in the country, has become the symbol of Debrecen, also known as "Calvinist Rome". The Calvinist College has an illustrious history of serving education, literature and science in Hungary for over 450 years. Among Debrecen's many places of interest is the Déri Museum, where you can see, among other works, the Christ Trilogy by the famous Hungarian painter Munkácsy Mihály. Fans of folk art should visit the tanner's house. In 2001, Debrecen's main street was completely renovated: the entire area became a pedestrian zone. The parade, whose beauty is accentuated by a fountain, is a venue for artistic events, classical and pop music, and cultural and leisure programs. Hortobágy National Park, just 35 km from Debrecen, is another Hungarian pride. Visitors can meet herds of horses, taste goulash soup and get acquainted with the typically Hungarian species of the famous "puszta", such as puli and domestic grey cattle. The area is also rich in birdlife. The main events are the Cavalier Days and the Bridge Fair. Pension Stop is located in a quiet, pleasant area in the center of Debrecen. Single, double and triple rooms are equipped with bathroom and TV. Guests can leave their cars in our enclosed parking lot. The pension and its surroundings offer a wide range of services.
