DAR BACH HAMBA
In the middle of Souk El Blat lies this palace, once owned by religious dignitaries who settled in Tunis in the 16th century, then by the Naccache family, and finally by Hammouda Ben Abdelaziz. It was the wealthy Turkish Bach-Hamba family who gave the palace its name and prestige when they acquired it. The palace was the headquarters of the Art Rue association, which works for the democratization of the arts and the development of artistic residencies in Tunis (more information on lartrue.org), and will soon be home to other associations.
