In the narrow streets of the medina, near the Grand Mosque, this café is over 500 years old and well worth a visit (with or without a coffee break). Superb with its vaulted ceilings, it was once a hostel for students of the Zitouna Mosque, and later became a caravanserai. Some of the mosaics adorning the café's walls are unique, featuring figurative representations of animals and people. One even depicts the local version of the Adam and Eve myth. Unique! The café is quiet in the mornings and very lively in the evenings during Ramadan.
