ROMAN THEATRE
The theater, built during Hadrian's reign (2nd century), occupies a bowl at the foot of the hill. It has been restored many times. Several statues, including a colossal one of Apollo, now on display at the Bardo Museum, were discovered here. It hosts the famous Carthage International Festival (every year in July and August). Outside the festival, the site is of little interest as it has been completely rebuilt, but gives an idea of the dimensions of the period. Nearby, the Boar Hunting House is a fine example of Roman domestic architecture.
