Particularly imposing and well preserved, these Roman cisterns are located on the outskirts of the ancient city, 250 m from the amphitheater. It is the largest hydraulic reservoir in the Roman world. The set forms a rectangle of 127 x 102 m, it covers practically 13 000 m², with a capacity of more than 60 000m3, served by a branch of the aqueduct of Zaghouan. Forgotten because of a village which was installed there, they are today the object of work of clearing and consolidation having for goal to emphasize them.
