Sidi Ali Azouz, the patron saint of the city, arrived in Zaghouan from Morocco in 1672. He died in 1720 and is the founder of the religious brotherhood, Al Azzouziya. His mausoleum, an architectural jewel, recognizable by its green tile dome, always attracts pilgrims. On Friday evenings, liturgical ceremonies are organized. The room housing the tomb of Sidi Ali Azouz is decorated with chiseled stucco walls and ceramic tiles, a legacy of Andalusian craftsmanship.
