Its bare architecture and the absence of a minaret make it more like a fortress than a religious building. This imposing 10th century tower was the guard tower of the Fatimids. Today, every Friday, it watches the traditional women's silk and jewelry market take place. The embroiderers of the city or the hinterland come to present their shimmering works.
