The Skifa El Kahla (also called Bab Zouila) is integrated into the system of ramparts rebuilt by the Turks at the end of the 16th century. The gateway to the fortified city, it was the main tower of the second line of defense to block access to the city by land. Two parts make up the building, a fortress of 18 m restored at the end of the XIXth century (panoramic view) and a vaulted vestibule which extends it and which was used for defense, but also as a commercial passage during the souk.
