With its noria operated by a dromedary, it would be the oldest well of Kairouan. According to the legend, it would have appeared under the hooves of the horse of the founder, Okba ibn Nafi, and would communicate with the sacred source of Mecca. However, the poor animal draws water from a well that is located in a room barely higher than him and this, blindfolded eyes and muzzle; a spectacle more distressing than picturesque, this place being the only one where we have seen such practices. We strongly advise to avoid this cruel tourist trap.
