Housed in a former presidential palace at the archaeological site of Raqqada, 9 km from Kairouan, this museum is the largest museum devoted to collections of Islamic artifacts in Tunisia. It exhibits medieval objects from Kairouan and the sites of Raqqada and Al-Mansuriya, an ancient princely city built in the Fatimid period, including a collection of coins and pottery objects from the Aghlabid period. The objects are displayed in seven rooms.
