You have to make the stones of this imposing site speak to appreciate its importance! The remains of the forum, bourgeois dwellings and religious and official buildings remain, the most important of which was the capitol. Of Punic origin, the city of Gightis was part of the territory ruled by Carthage in the 6th century BC. In the 1st century, Gightis became a municipe. It went on to become one of the Gulf's most prosperous trading cities.
