PORT DE ZARZIS
It plays an important role in the region's trade, particularly for sea salt and crude oil exports, as well as for imports of white petroleum products. It has an access channel 125 m wide and 8.4 km long, marked by a landing buoy and lighted side buoys. The port is protected by a 1505 m breakwater. It also has docks, wharves and warehouses. The main economic activities in the Zarzis region are agriculture, fishing, aquaculture, tourism and industry. Road access to the port is provided by the MC 118, MC 117 and MC 109. However, there is no direct rail access to the port, as the SNCFT network stops at Gabès, 140 km from Zarzis.
