On September 29 and 30, the second edition of the Ultra Mirage® El Djerid - UMED -, a 100-kilometre race open to all between desert, canyons and mountain oases, will be held in Tozeur, in southern Tunisia. A unique opportunity to take up a new challenge while discovering unique landscapes only a few hours away by flight.

Ultra Mirage® El Djerid (UMED) is the first 100 km Ultra Trail that takes place in the incredible region of Djérid (South-West of Tunisia) known to everyone (sometimes unknowingly) since it has served as the backdrop for films such as "The English Patient" but also and especially the famous saga "Star Wars". This one-stage race starts from Tozeur (the region's main city) and takes runners through a wide variety of terrain and landscapes: fine sand barkans (moving dunes), small rivers, chotts (dry salt lakes), rocky canyons and other mountain oases that make this region of Tunisia proud

A challenge to be met within a maximum of 20 hours with specific time barriers to cross each of the 5 checkpoints spaced 15 to 20 km apart where participants can refuel and benefit, if necessary, from medical and/or technical assistance. If it is open to everyone (from the professional ultra runner to the enlightened amateur of competition of this kind), the Ultra Mirage® El Djerid is not to be taken lightly: training and excellent physical condition being imperative.

If the Ultra Mirage® is affiliated to the ITRA - International Trail Running Association - with a qualification of 4 ITRA points, it has also qualified, since its first edition in 2017, for the UTMB - Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc - with a qualification of 4 UTMB points

Supported by the Tunisian Athletics Federation and the Tunisian National Tourist Office - ONTT-, the Ultra Mirage® is the opportunity to experience one of those rare moments when, although they do not know each other, all the participants, the organisers but also the inhabitants of the places crossed, gather around a sporting and unique event where the most beautiful thing that humanity has to offer is expressed: endurance, perseverance, solidarity, friendship and respect.
