The market occupies the central place, the main exhibition place for sellers who do not seek to attract the tourist, even if there are some displays of "crafts of the Sahara" with the inevitable roses of the sands. Among other things, nomads came to sell their fruits and vegetables produced in one of the oasis of the region, as well as the merchants of fairly famous artisanal clothing. It is one of the most important markets in this region, and the most typical. But it is mainly for its market for animals, located below, on a square adjacent to the palm grove, that this day attracts farmers from all over Tunisia: camels, goats, hens, horses, donkeys, we find everything and it's in an atmosphere full of screams, colors and unexpected smells that you enter on the square. A huge crowd of people who are lazy, and rather static, press the animals: there is nothing wrong here, where there are hardly any tourists. Men of a certain age discuss or play tailor-made games while waiting for a potential buyer to present themselves, while younger people watch impatient animals. Children, for their part, are dealing with selling rabbits, hens and other feathers that allow them to grow into a trader's profession. A real market, as we can no longer see, where tension is felt among these men (of course, there is no woman here), whose livestock is generally the only source of income.
