Museum in a historical monument on the edge of the port in Heraklion.
Situated on the edge of the port, this museum is housed in a neoclassical building listed as a historic monument. It offers a tour of Crete from the Middle Ages to the present day (logically, it follows on from the Archaeological Museum). This is the museum we recommend most in Heraklion, as it will help you to learn more about the island and its inhabitants. It also exhibits the only two paintings by El Greco in Crete.
