Luxurious palace, an ancient religious place of Knossos.
This luxurious building (17th-15th c. BC) belonged to the palace of Knossos. There are large reception rooms and a massive staircase leading to the first floor. The Small Palace would also have been an important religious place: an altar was discovered there as well as rooms with precious cult objects, such as the bull-shaped rhyton exhibited in the Heraklion Museum. This hypothesis is further reinforced by the short distance that separates this building from the theatre of Knossos: a sacred path would have unified these two places of worship.
