Ancient cemetery in Archanes, the largest in Crete.

It is the largest ancient cemetery ever discovered in Crete and in the Aegean Sea in general. It dates back to 2500 B.C. It is a remarkable site for the considerable number of funerary constructions, varied architectural styles and the wealth of objects found during excavations. A significant number of these objects come from Egypt, the Cyclades and the East, attesting to the important role played by Archanaea (Provided) during the Minoan period and its commercial relations with the rest of the known world of the time.
