Very interesting monastery with a fountain nearby, ideal for obtaining healing.
East of Matala, about 4 km away, the 16th century monastery is very interesting for the splendid icons it contained, especially the icon of the Hodigitria, "She who shows the way", painted by St. Luke the Evangelist. It is said that not far from the monastery there was a fountain where blind people and those suffering from eye diseases went to obtain healing. The most famous icon still admired on the site is the one of the Evangelist Matthew.
