This is probably the oldest tavern in the city. Of course it serves traditional Cretan specialties cooked with local olive oil, including fresh grilled fish, the famous rosemary snails, rabbit, mussels in tomato sauce and sheep's cheese. It is a family affair with Mum in the kitchen, the son in the dining room and his brother who runs the Hotel Zafira just behind the tavern, where you can stay all year round. Deckchairs are free for restaurant and hotel guests.

Ordered lamb chops and they were the chewiest lamb chops ever. We couldn't even cut them they were so tuff. We did get one price of the meal knocked off but it was no excuse to sell us bad lamb. Would not visit this place again. My nephew ordered the beef kokkino and said it was lovely. Maybe we ordered the wrong meal but you don't expect to be served a bad meal. Can honestly say that it was the worst meal I've ever had in Crete.
