TOPOLIA GORGES
Topolia gorge with a chapel and the cave of Agia Sofia with stalactites and stalagmites.
The village of Topolia marks the beginning of the gorge of the same name. 1.5 km wide, the vertical walls reach a height of 300 m in places with countless caves. Explorers, to your torches! After a tunnel, before Koutsamatados, on the right is the Agia Sofia cave, with impressive stalactites and stalagmites, inhabited already in the Neolithic period (6,000 years BC). A small chapel dedicated to Agia Sofia is inserted in the cave. From the entrance, there is a superb view of the gorge. Beautiful views from the road.
