PEST-BUDA BISTRO
Pizzas and crepes in a trendy bistro with a terrace just a stone's throw from the tourist attractions of Budapest's castle district.
This former inn, tastefully renovated, has become a casual bistro, a stone's throw from the tourist attractions of the castle district. In these two rooms, which imitate a decoration from another time, one is sure to find comforting soups, and traditional main courses, perfectly prepared, of which only Hungarian grandmothers have the secret. You will love the goulash, the bell pepper stuffed with cabbage or the hortobágyi pancake. For dessert, don't miss the famous Gundel pancake! Also serves breakfasts. Nice terrace.

On the day of my arrival, in the late afternoon, I received a phone call from the hotell enquiring about my check-in time. (I think I had indicated an earlier check-in when I made the reservation)
As the reception is not staffed after 19.00, and I was not able to arrived before this, they said I would receive an sms with my key retrieval instructions, and they also explained them over the phone.
Sure enough, just after this I got the sms, including information that I had been upgraded to the suite
(sweeet, I thought (pun intended))
So far, so good.
And the good just kept coming ????
I found the hotel easily, and when I struggled with the lock-box (for my key), the staff at the bistro connected to the hotel, were more than happy to help.
The interior was charming and I found my way to the second floor (or 1st floor for those who use Ground floor ????).
My suite was absolutely delightful!
The layout of the room and the art on the wall gave it a charm that you don't get in the bigger (chain) hotels.
The bathroom was an open solution, but seperated from the sleeping areal with a divider wall. (so if you're not staying by yourself, I recommend you share this suite with someone you're familiar and comfortable with ????
There is a curtain for the bath area, but it's see-through, so it's not for the shy)
Oh, and the toilet is hidden behind what seems to be cupboard doors, quite cute actually, but again, you should be sharing the room with someone you're comfortable with ????
The bed was - for me - good, because I prefer a hard mattress, but I guess this could be a goldilocks scenario. If you prefer to sink into a soft mattress, you might have a rough night ahead..
So far, still good!
So, the bad? The only thing that comes to mind is that the windows are not soundproofed. So you'll hear the chatter from the bistro downstairs, until they close quite early in the evening. You'll also hear passing buses and other traffic, but in general this is a really quiet area. So not so bad, after all ????
Finally, the lovely.
How else to describe the people running the hotel and the bistro ????
Thank you so much for a lovely stay, I enjoyed it immensely and will definitely stay there if I'm going back to Budapest.
