On the Buda side, a few steps away from the Chain Bridge, Szabina Szulló and Tamás Széll cook for you seasonal and quality products at Stand25 Bisztro. They themselves describe their cuisine as "Hungarian freestyle " despite a well thought out menu and finely elaborated dishes. So take a seat in this well-decorated establishment to enjoy a choice of onion soup, goulash as a starter, duck legs, steak or salmon as a main course, and for dessert the famous sponge cake or cottage cheese. Nice Hungarian wine list.

Our visit to Stand25 Bistro was an incredible dining experience. From the moment we stepped in the staff were incredibly attentive. Classic Hungarian dishes served with a modern touch were the best we tried in the whole of Budapest!

My hubby called this restaurant "the best restaurant in Budapest," which can be an exaggeration (since we'd been here for only two days). But I agree with him. I had deer loin (smooth and tender) while he had fish and chips (crispy). The bill came up to less than 100€ for two mains, two glasses of rose (2500HUF each), one glass of white wine, still water, VAT, and service charge. It was definitely money well-spent. By the time we left at about 13:00, it was almost full. We got a table easily because we were the first few ones to arrive at 11:58.

The goulash soup was okay (meat was soft), but it was not 'the best' goulash I ate in Budapest. The duck leg was moist, had a crispy skin, and combined well with the cabbage. Service was very good. Prices are a bit higher in this (Buda) neighborhood.
