FRANCISCAN CHURCH (TEMPLOM IRONWORKS)
Franciscan church to visit in Budapest, embellished by some of Károly Lotz's frescoes.
The Franciscan church (Ferences Templom) is located at number 9 Ferenciek Square. On the present site of the temple, a church and cloister were already established in the 13th century. The building that stands there today was completed in 1759 in the Italian Baroque style. Inside, some of the frescoes are by Károly Lotz. On the left wall, a plaque commemorates the catastrophic flood of 1838, in which the city center of Pest was drowned.
