The amphitheater of the military city (built by the Romans around 145) could welcome between 10 000 and 15 000 people. Of elliptical shape, it was used for the military exercises of the legions posted here, in Aquincum. Then it was used for the defense of almost all the occupants who followed, from the Avars to the Hungarians.
