SALLE SAINT ETIENNE (SZENT ISTVÁN-TEREM)
The hall, designed by Alajos Hauszmann, houses exhibitions dedicated to Saint Stephen and the construction and reconstruction of the castle.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had promised to restore the Saint Stephen's Hall, and it is done. This room, designed by Alajos Hauszmann, was inaugurated in 1896 for the Millennium celebrations and won a prize in 1900 at the Paris World Fair. Its fireplace is richly decorated with ceramics by Zsolnay, and the room is full of gilding. It houses two permanent exhibitions: one dedicated to St. Stephen, the other to the construction and reconstruction of the castle.
